Jaco Beach, Hermosa Beach and Esterillos Beach are some of the beaches closer to San Jose (2-hour drive) and connect to each other by cliffs and small reefs. All of them are long black sand beaches with good waves. Be aware of strong tide currents.

Jaco is a beach town full of youngsters from different countries must of them surfers. It is also one of the beach towns with more night clubs in Costa Rica. Along the main street you will also find a number of restaurants, hotels, tours, and souvenir shops.

Bicycles are one of the most common vehicles along the locals and are also available for rent to drive around the town.

Hermosa is a golden-sand beach stretches 1,500 meters before meeting the blue-green waters of the Pacific. It’s a typical beach on a small, semi-open bay with great waves all along the coast. Lush vegetation borders the beach, with hills on both sides, offering beautiful scenery. Esterillos are serene beaches with very few hotels and private houses.

Besides the shores you will also find diverse flora and fauna which will be better seen through nature trails, canopy tours, aerial trams and other tours available. Los Sueños Marriott is located 15 minutes away from Jaco. All basic services such as emergency centers, convenience stores, gas stations are also available nearby.
