Nestled in the lush rainforest, this is the ideal hideaway for nature lovers and the perfect place to discover the wonders of the Tortuguero National Park. The Lodge is a 15-acre beach front property located on the right side of Tortuguero, offering nice views to the Tortuguero Lagoon and the canals.

During your stay, enjoy our pool surrounded by exotic gardens and relax in the ranchos with hammocks. Comfortable rooms with ceiling fans provide tranquil garden views. Stroll through the nature trails or take a leisurely walk on the pristine beach in front of the Lodge.

After an early departure from San José, we will stop for breakfast at our private Restaurant Río Danta, where you will enjoy a typical Costa Rican breakfast surrounded by the sounds of the Danta River and marvelous views of the gardens. Continuing our way, we will arrive to Matina, our private embarkation point. Before you board the boats for a 2 hour ride on the canals, you will enjoy fresh water and refreshing tropical fruits. Once you arrive to the lodge and after a hearty lunch, the adventure continues!

During the stay, you will be taken out on tours to the smaller canals and hikes into the lush rain forest of the National Park area, in which nature lovers can observe the virgin forest, many species of birds, mammals and reptiles. For the most adventurous, hiking to the Tortuguero Hill is a must. All of our boats doing trips in the smaller canals, are equipped with electric engines, for a maximun enjoyment of nature.

Our new expedition! This is the first paddling adventure on sea kayaks, straight into the heartland of the Tortuguero National Park.

This is an excellent way of enjoying Tortuguero natural wonders, quietly navigating throughout itis network of rivers, lagoons and canals. We offers 3 different tour options: from 2 days & 1 night. First day and last day are the same on all options, but depending on the length of your stay you will have some more opportunities to do some extra paddling. On day one, we will travel on the van through Banana Plantations until reaching the starting point in Guapiles, in the boundary of the National Park on the Tortuguero River where the fun starts.

Lunch will be served in the River bank along the way in the middle of the Parks Tropical Forest. You will continue to meander in this lush forest with amazing flora and fauna. Late afternoon arrival to Mawamba Lodge. If staying longer than 1 night, next day paddle will take you to an exploration of a lifetime in Samay Laguna. Here you will board the kayaks for a 3 to 4 hours exploration of the area. The magical entrance to Laguna Nueve and a brief visit to the beach will be some of the day highlights. Wonderful clean waters and total solitude will be part of the experience. Lunch is served on site and return to Mawamba Lodge for overnight.

On day of departure, after breakfast you will board the boat for the return trip to Matina where the bus will be waiting for the return to San José, stopping en route for lunch at the private Rio Danta Restaurant.

After this trip, we guarantee you will have a whole new sense of adventure, and have had the opportunity to enjoy jungle in a way just a few have been able to discover.
